Riders and management from the Plan B Racing Team were joined by media and sponsors on the roof of the Central Park Tower on the eve of the new-look teams first hit-out for 2010.
The team is the only West Australian based team competing in the 2010 National Road Series and the riders have high hopes for the teams success. The team has already tasted success at the National level winning the 2009 Tour de Perth in November. The internal structure has been modified over the summer since that win, mainly with the ties to Government funding such as Cycling WA no longer exist but a number of the same riders make up the nucleus of the new team.
"We are not getting ahead of ourselves but we certainly aim to be finishing on podiums throughout the year" explains rider Anthony Giacoppo. "Its truly a team effort and the support we get from each other makes it work, at the end of the day its less about individual honours" adds Elliot Wells.
The majority of riders are WA born and raised with a few form eastern states. The team is managed by Wayne Evans an experienced WAIS coach and cyclist himself. The team flies out to Tasmania this week to compete in the Mersey Valley Tour, the first event on the NRS schedule. The team recently welcomed aboard Highbury Homes as a supporting sponsor joining major sponsor Plan B Wealth Management for the 2010 season.
Photos & video from the day can be viewed on the team's Flickr photostream and YouTube channel. |
